{{Book Review}} Instant Happy Journal | 365 Days of Inspiration, Gratitude, and Joy

This colorful diary inspires journalers to apply happiness guru Karen Salmansohn'sInstant Happy principles to their everyday lives, with 365 prompts to encourage a year of gratitude.

     On the heels of Karen Salmansohn's wildly popular gift book Instant Happy comes this happiness journal, with daily prompts to help you think about and apply happiness wisdom to your own life. Each page features a specific intention, inspiring quote, surprising scientific fact, or thought-provoking question to ponder. When you approach your day with Salmansohn's "happiness prompters" in mind, you amp up your ability to notice (and create!) many more joyous moments in your day. But that's just half of what it takes to live a supremely happy life. This journal teaches the top two habits of happy people: to naturally set their intention to enjoy a happy day, then end the day reflecting on what made them happy. When you end your day writing about what went right, you further strengthen your happiness mindset. With fill-in dates so that you can write and reflect at your own pace, this little journal features a graphic design and fresh attitude perfect for today's modern happiness-seeker.

*My Review*
The cover of this book is what drew me in. It's so bright and well...happy looking. I knew that I had to add it to my collection of books! When this book arrived, I looked through it right away. It is smaller than I thought it would be, but it is the perfect size to keep on my night stand.

When you open the book you will see a "This Journal belongs to". Each page has a "Date:__________" section at the top so you can write in the date for that day. It also has a satin bookmark attached to the book so you can keep your place.

I absolutely love this journal and can't wait to start using it on 1, Jan 2016! Of course you don't HAVE to wait until the new year, you can grab yourself a copy of this book and start right away!

{{Book Review}} Wedding at Orange Blossom Inn

Shelley Shepard Gray returns with the third book in her Amish Brides of Pinecraft series—a story of second chances for two young single parents...and the wedding that brings them together.

Emma Keim was heartbroken when her husband Sanford passed away, leaving her to raise three young daughters alone. In the years since, her relatives have made it no secret that they expect Emma to remain a widow, mourning Sanford indefinitely. But when she meets Jay Hilty—a widower with three young sons of his own—Emma is delighted to have a new friend who understands her struggles. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s also handsome and kind. Still, Emma is dismayed that her family is so opposed to their friendship—and the idea of it ever becoming anything more. She honors her husband’s memory every day, but is she destined to be alone forever?

Jay knows that few people his age understand what it’s like to lose a spouse, and Emma’s gentleness with his boys stirs something in his heart that’s been quiet for far too long. But when Jay’s oldest son becomes engaged to a local woman, suddenly Jay, Emma, and their children are swept up in wedding preparations. Witnessing his son’s joy, Jay wonders if it’s time for him to move forward, too, and find happiness again.

Jay wants to court Emma in earnest, but Emma’s relatives remain troubled by the prospect of her moving on. Once again, love has come to Pinecraft. But can these two parties of four become a happy, healthy family of eight?

*My Review*
I have read several books by Shelley Shepard Gray in the past & I have loved them all.The newest book is "Wedding At Orange Blossom Inn" and is book 3 in the Pinecraft Brides series. This book just might be my all time favorite so far.

A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn is a fun & charming addition to the series. Like with the other two books in this series, I sat down to read it in one sitting(when I should have been studying)! I was a little sad that this book ended so quickly, and I cannot wait until more books come out!

{{Book Review}} Gather Around The Amish Table

Gather Around the Amish Table (MennoMedia, September 2015)

Straight from Amish kitchens to yours, this cookbook offers favorite family recipes and charming stories from Amish and Mennonite cooks.

Bake the pecan rolls that taste best after an ice-skating party, or try the hoagies that a community sold to help an Amish family with hospital bills. Discover the cocoa cupcakes with instructions to "stir by hand" that one young cook took literally, or whip up the whoopie pies that one Amish woman took to market in her horse and buggy.

These cherished recipes speak of comforting traditions, lively communities, and strong Christian faith. Gather your family around the table to sample the nourishing fare and trademark charm of the plain people. In the words of one cookbook contributor: "Bake someone happy!"

For those that know me, they know I LOVE to cook and that I'm a collector or cookbooks, & "Gather Around The Amish Table" is one that I just HAD to add to my collection! My husband and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary on 15, Sept, so he and I chose what we wanted to try first and we both cooked it together(awww! lol)

We had the Macaroni Casserole, BBQ green beans, Onion Rings, & Yoder's 8-minute cheesecake. Everything was so simple to make and it was all so delish!

I love that all of the recipes in this book are really simple to make and take stuff that I usually keep on hand in our home. I also love that there are kitchen tips & little stories along with the recipes.

I've already promised family members this cookbook for Christmas, I can't wait for them to get their copy and try some of the yummy stuff in here!

*My Review*
I wasn't sure I would like this book at first, but after looking at it and reading through it I have to say I LOVE it! It has so many wonderful ideas, and the photos are gorgeous. My favorite part is
the "Color" section & how they have color schemes(with a twist). I probably won't use any ideas from this book on our current apartment, but I will def consider it for our house that we will be purchasing

Let's Learn About The Lord's Prayer | {{Book Review}}

About the book: Let's Learn about the Lord's Prayer (David C. Cook, September 2015)

In this first book of the HeartSmart series, preschoolers are invited on a playdate with Emma. Together they learn the Lord's Prayer and practice "teaching" it to Emma's favorite teddy bear.

Introducing HeartSmart, a Scripture memory series designed to create opportunities for children to fill their heart with God's Word. HeartSmart combines key Scriptures with songs, giving parents a spiritual formation path for building a strong foundation of faith.

The entire Lord's Prayer is included, along with a custom song (free download with access code).

*My Review*
It was so much fun reading this book with my 4 & 5 yr olds. They loved this book, and loved repeating the Lord's Prayer back to me, and then we said it together. This book has become a bedtime favorite, even though we've read it a million times they still love having me read it to them.

This book is a board book, perfect for little fingers. It's thick so it will last for a very long time.

This is such a great book & would make a perfect gift for the little one in your life, or for a church nursery/library. I would recommend this book to anyone who has little ones.

{{Book Review}} | Chivalrous by Dina Sleiman

Strong and adventurous Gwendolyn Barnes longs to be a knight like her chivalrous brothers. However, that is not an option for her, not even in the Arthurian-inspired Eden where she dwells. Her parents view her only as a marriage pawn, and her domineering father is determined to see her wed to a brutish man who will break her spirit.

When handsome, good-hearted Allen of Ellsworth arrives in Edendale searching for his place in the world, Gwendolyn spies in him the sort of fellow she could imagine marrying. Yet fate seems determined to keep them apart. Tournaments, intrigue, and battles--along with twists and turns aplenty--await these two as they struggle to find love, identity, and their true destinies.

*My Review*
"Chivalrous"  is the second book in the Valiant Hearts series. I did not read the first book, and I've never read anything from Dina Sleiman before.  Without having read the first book, I have to say this book was pretty good. It kept me interested enough to keep reading. There are a few mature elements but nothing very graphic. It had a few slow spots to me, but overall I would say this is worth reading.

{{Book Review}} | The Finishing School

In today's world, our most precious pursuit of a life well lived gets squeezed out by the silliest of things: bringing on Netflix or ice cream, shopping trips for things we don't need, bad habits we can't seem to get a handle on, and so much more. Valerie has been there despite knowing what she wanted for her life. Actually do it? That's the challenge. After gobbling up all the non-fiction and self-help books her donut-filled belly could handle, she decided it was time to put her knowledge to good use and start actually living it out. You will hear about her journey through victories and plenty of failures and find practical tips to apply to your own pursuit of holiness. You will find homework at the end of each chapter that includes a worksheet to put real change in motion for your own life as well as recommended books to further study those topics that really test you.

*My Review*
I am SO glad I read "The Finishing School"! This book covered so many different areas that I need to work on. I love that Valerie Woerner suggests that you take your time to work through it, so that you can effectively put it into action. I learned so much while reading it.

{{Book Review}} Bible Stories Gone Crazy!

Eight Bible stories are depicted in bright color and comic, cartoony illustrations. There is a sentence or two explaining the scene at the top, and then details to spot, mistakes to find, and questions to answer along the sides of the picture, such as, Did Noah s workmen REALLY have power tools? and How many rabbits are in the picture? Children will love scouring the illustrations to find the answers and spot more amusing details in the busy artwork of Emiliano Migliardo.
The stories are Noah and His Great Ark, Moses Crossing the Red Sea, Joshua and the Fall of Jericho, David and Goliath, Daniel and the Lions, Jonah and the Big Fish, Feeding the 5,000, and Man Through the Roof.

*My Review*

This book is sort of like the “Where’s Waldo” books I grew up with. I found myself enjoying this book as much as my 4 & 5 year olds. We had fun reading this book and trying to find the characters.

This is a hardback book with thick pages that can hold up to little hands. I would say this book is for 4 years and up.

This would make a great gift for your child(ren) or a gift for a special little one in your life. This would also be great for a church library.

There can be only one mistress of Tall Acre . . .

A marriage of convenience.
She is in love with someone else.
He has no wish to love again.
What could possibly go wrong?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The American Revolution is finally over, and Sophie Menzies is starved for good news. When her nearest neighbor, General Seamus Ogilvy, finally comes home to Tall Acre, she hopes it is a sign of better days to come. But the general is now a widower with a small daughter in desperate need of a mother. Nearly destitute, Sophie agrees to marry Seamus and become the mistress of Tall Acre in what seems a safe, sensible arrangement. But when a woman from the general's past returns without warning, the ties that bind this fledgling family together will be strained to the utmost. When all is said and done, who will be the rightful mistress of Tall Acre?
Triumph and tragedy, loyalty and betrayal--you will find it all in the rich pages of this newest novel from the talented pen of Laura Frantz.
*My Review*
I was recently given the chance to review "The MIstress of Tall Acre" by Laura Frantz. This was my first time reading anything by Frantz, so I wasn't sure what to expect...but I have to say...this book blew me away. It is so full of History, mystery, drama & romance. The characters in this book were amazingly wonderful. This book is one that I really enjoyed and recommend to anyone looking for a good read.
Chobani Yogurts | Product Review
Whether your yogurt MO is scooping, dipping or swirling; whether you’re 5 or 95, Chobani® makes something for everyone. Look for Greek yogurt made the right way — for any occasion — at the Kroger Co. Family of Stores!
Chobani® cares about how they make their yogurt, so each cup is crafted using only natural ingredients. That means the fruit you taste is real fruit; the honey is real honey. The nuts, the chocolate, the milk — yes, all natural. And they refuse to use any preservatives. What else is there to like?
  • Only natural ingredients that are not genetically modified (non-GMO)
  • No artificial flavors or sweeteners
  • No preservatives
  • Made with milk from cows not treated with hormones like rBST*
  • And more!
*According to the FDA no significant difference has been found between milk derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST treated cows.
*My Review*
Last week my Chobani BzzKit arrived! I was so excited, and I am so glad that I am a member of Bzzagent.com.
I received the following in my bzzkit.
  • One FREE coupon for any 5.3 oz Chobani® Greek Yogurt*
  • One FREE coupon for any 5.3 oz Chobani Simply 100® Greek Yogurt
  • One FREE coupon for any 5.3 oz Chobani Flip™ Greek Yogurt
  • One FREE coupon for any Chobani® Kids Greek Yogurt Pouch
I had to go to the store that day anyway...so I figured I would get my FREE Chobani yogurts while I was there. The Kroger that I usually shop at didn't have a great selection of Chobani yogurt to choose from. I ended up getting the black cherry flavored greek yogurt, the vanilla simply 100 yogurt, the coffee break chobani flips, & the chobani kids(not pictured)
Now, let's talk about these flavors...I'm not exactly sure how to say this nicely, so I'm just going to say it.
The black cherry flavored Chobani greek yogurt was about the ONLY one that didn't make me want to gag. I love that it has actual pieces of black cherries on the bottom, and I'm not talking about small pieces...these were decent size! The flavor was amazing and love that this and all of the Chobani yogurts are made with only natural ingredients that are not genetically modified (non-GMO), No artificial flavors or sweeteners, & No preservatives
Plan and simple...these two yogurts are not my favorite. The coffee break flips has a bite, the "flips" part was good though! The vanilla simply 100 was bitter and I couldn't finish either flavor without wanting to gag. Not even my children would eat the coffee flavor or the vanilla flavor.
I didn't get a picture of the Chobani kids, but my three girls LOVED it, and I loved that it's healthy! I would def buy the chobani kids in the future.
*Disclaimer*I received the above listed products free from BzzAgent in exchange for my honest review. I am not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
As the journal fills year after year, you'll own a showcase of your ever-growing creative output.
*My Review*
Awhile back I got the smaller Q&A 5 year journal for my 11 yr old daughter. This time I have the "Q&A a Day for Creatives". I love that it's bigger, approx 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" in size. With this book you get 365 questions - 4 years - 1,460 sketches. I am absolutely love this sketch book and recommend this for anyone with an interest in growing your creativity, putting it on paper and watching it evolve over 4 years.
This book is going to be a gift for someone, and I can't wait until she sees it! I hope she loves it as much as I have enjoyed looking through it.
Land O' Lakes European Style Super Premium Butter | Product Review
Salted or Unsalted?
Land O Lakes® European Style Super Premium Butter comes in two varieties: salted and unsalted. Which should you choose? Of course both are made from the same top-quality sweet cream, and both will work in any recipe. Unsalted gives the chef control over the amount of salt in a dish. Salted is all-purpose, ready to spread and enjoy. So when you take your coupon in to claim your free butter, make the choice that best fits your personal cooking style.
*My Review*
One of the many perks of being a BzzAgent is being invited to try new products! I was recently invited by BzzAgent to try Land O' Lakes European Style Super Premium Butter. Naturally I said yes. I received 1 (One) FREE coupon for a half-pound package of Land O Lakes® European Style Super Premium Butter & 6(six) Pass-along recipe booklets containing delectable desserts, enticing entrees and a $1-off coupon — save one for yourself and share the rest with friends!
I chose to use some of this butter on the baked chicken & green beans that I made for supper a few nights ago. I've also included my recipe for the chicken that I made. Hope you enjoy & let me know if you try it! I used my non-stick baking sheet and baked for the first 20 mins of baking, and then removed it, poured out some of the butter and then cooked for another 20-25 mins.
I also used frozen chicken. If you use thawed chicken, you may need less baking time. Make sure you cook until chicken reaches the internal temp on the package. For the chicken I used it was 170c.
For the green beans I used french cut(it's what we had in the pantry at the time), REAL bacon bits, half of the remaining 1/2 stick of Land O' Lakes European Style Butter, & Molasses Bacon Seasoning(I didn't measure, but i didn't add too much). I cooked that down in an iron skillet for 5-8 mins.
My girls and husband absolutely loved this chicken(& the green beans). I won't say it's a healthy meal, but every once in awhile you should allow yourself a "cheat" meal...and this is ours! I loved the way this chicken turned out, thanks to Land O' Lakes European Style Salted Butter. The chicken turned out so moist & juicy. This meal isn't complete unless you have some of my husband's homemade BBQ sauce(pictured in the Blue cup)
I'm not sure I would pay $3+ for only 2 sticks of butter all the time, but I would if I only needed it for certain recipes. All in all I loved this butter, and can't wait to try some of the recipes that came in my bzzkit!
My First Hands-On Bible is the preschooler version of the popular Hands-On Bible, which has sold over a half million copies. Jesus taught with hands-on lessons and illustrations; My First Hands-On Bibleuses the same experience-based learning to communicate God’s Word in an active, understandable way. My First Hands-On Bible is a fun and simple yet meaningful way to engage preschool, pre-K, and K children (ages 3-6) with the Bible while helping them build a solid faith foundation. In addition to the stories and activities, there are fun illustrations, prayers, and a special Jesus Connection feature.
*My Review*
I absolutely love this Bible! The stories are just the right length to keep my 4 & 5 year old interested and they have questions and activities to do during/after the story, a "Jesus connection" and a short prayer.
We have another Bible and lots of Bible story books, but my girls love this Bible and it is now a part of our bedtime routine! They are practically begging to go to bed so we can read.
This is the perfect Bible for little ones, if you are looking for a Bible for your child(ren)...look no further! I suggest all parents/grandparents etc check this Bible out. It would also be perfect for a church nursery/preschool class.
{{Product Review}} AdoramaPix Photo Book
Back in June I posted about AdoramaPix, you can find that post here. I was given a code for a free photo book because I did that post. I JUST created my book this past weekend and my book arrived today!
The reason it took me so long to order my book is because I couldn't decide what photos I wanted to put in my 10x10 photo book. I finally decided to use some of my favorite pictures from when we went to the Natural Bridge Caverns down in New Bruanfels, Texas.
I chose to do a scrapbook type book. I wanted to document some of our favorite pictures from our trip.
The photo on the cover is of my husband and girls in front of the "fairy castles" down in the caverns!
I'm not really sure what I was expecting this book to be, but I am blown away by the quality of this book, and how my photos turned out inside of the book! This photo book was $30, I chose to add the 2-3 day shipping which is $23.00. My grand total was still $0.00 thanks to AdoramaPix providing me with a credit. The site is super easy to navigate, once I chose what pictures I wanted and where I wanted them I was done in no time.
I chose to fully customize this book. I put a "sticker" on the inside front cover and wrote "This book belongs to: The Carney family"
Like I mentioned above, the quality of this book is amazing. The pages are thick unlike photo books I've ordered from different companies in the past. The photos printed up beautifully. I was afraid this one would be too dark and that it wouldn't look good,but as you can see it looks amazing! This photo is from when we climbed up 135 feet, & we were looking down at what we had just climbed! It was such an amazing experience...and I'm so thankful that AdoramaPix is around to help preserve our memories.
If you are in the market for a new photo book, or prints...I highly recommend that you check these guys out! They are great. The packaging was wondeful & it came with a little note card saying who printed/packed your item(s). They take great care from beginning to end with your photos. I haven't found anyone else who does that.
