{{Book Review}} Your New Money Mindset: Create a Healthy Relationship with Money

Have you ever thought: If I just had a little more money I would be happy? Research has shown this belief to be false. Through personal experience, Biblical passages and timely research, coauthors Brad Hewitt, CEO of Thrivent Financial, and Dr. Jim Moline, consulting psychologist, reveal that financial happiness and security have little to do with how much money you have, and a lot to do with the role money plays in your life.

Your New Money Mindset isn't just another book about managing finances. It's a book about reshaping your relationship with money by examining your attitudes and beliefs around money.

Your New Money Mindset:

-Defies the consumerism that infects our culture and sickens our hearts.
-Shows us how to replace the tension and fear we feel about money with contentment and peace.
-Guides us to live open-heartedly with our time, energy and money.
-Provides an online New Money Mindset Assessment™, which will help you pinpoint what attitudes about money you could work on in order to develop an openhearted attitude to life.
Regardless of your financial situation, we invite you to journey with us to discover how to transform your relationship with money by remaking your heart.

*My Review*
When I received the email to review this book, I signed up right away. My husband is always looking for a good read on how to save money and all that & has read book(s) by Dave Ramsey. This book is about changing your heart and you will change your relationship with money.

This was an easy book to read, not only for my husband, but for myself as well. I believe that "Your New Money Mindset" is a good reminder to have handy. There are discussion questions in the back. It’s a book would make a good gift for graduates and newly married couples or couples joining assets.

When a water vessel is filled with dirt and stones, it cannot be used to quench a thirst. {{Book Review}} Come Empty: Pour Out Life's Hurts and Receive God's Healing Love

But, when this vessel is emptied, there is an opportunity to fill it until it overflows with fresh, cool, life-giving water. Water that quenches. Refreshes. Soothes.

Our souls are the same: filled with fear, doubt, and disappointment. Running over with unanswered prayers and lingering questions. When we empty the mess of our lives in the presence of God, we're offered an invitation to come. An invitation that allows us to come empty --- so that we can be filled until we overflow.

Come Empty: Pour Out Life's Hurts and Receive God's Healing Love guides you through fifty days of experiencing the fullness of God's love and His ability to overcome life's hurts. Each day, you will receive assurance of God's presence in your difficult situations. Each devotion gives new vision and perspective when you're hindered by emotional blind spots, and leads you to experience God's peace and wholeness. When His invitation is accepted, He will set your captive mind and heart free to live fully by His grace. The question is not if you will get an invitation. The question is, will you come?

*My Review*
Come Empty is an absolutely beautiful devotional that will help you with your journey in growing closer to the heart of God. This book is for those who are spiritually thirsty, "Come Empty" helps point to the ways to be filled in Christ. I give this book a huge 5 stars and recommend it to anyone seeking to grow closer to the Lord.

Cassidy was looking for a home and a place to belong . . . not for a cowboy to steal her heart. | {{Book Review}} Kissed by a Cowboy

Having lived through her parents' endless string of "matrimonial bliss gone wrong," Cassidy Starr knows when the odds are not in her favor. Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She's been bucked off that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she's inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She'll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt's footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.

Rancher Jarrod Monahan's hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He's pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that's a challenge that Jarrod can't pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy's stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy's kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

*My Review*
"KIssed by a Cowboy" is book three(3) in this four(4) book series. I've had the pleasure of reading the first two, so when I was told that I would be reviewing this one I was happy. Debra Clopton is on my list of "favorite Authors".

I absolutely loved going back to Wishing Springs, it is a perfect place for a Bed & Breakfast and I would love to be able to stay for awhile.

I read this book in a few sittings. It was great just like the first two in the "A Four of Hearts Ranch" series.
I suppose you could read this as a stand alone, I don't feel that you would not be lost in reading just this one book, but why would you want to?! Why not reall ALL of them? :-D

I HIGHLY recommend this book, as well as the whole series!

{{Event Review}} The Monster X Tour @ City Bank Coliseum in Lubbock, Tx.

Oh, where do I begin!? I had a confirmation email from the lovely Christine at U.S. Family guide earlier last week saying that not only was I getting 4 free tickets, but I was also getting FREE pit party passes so we could meet & hang out with the drivers and their trucks. After hearing that I was even more excited than I was before.

We had to drive over 5 hrs from Dallas to Lubbock to the see these trucks, so I was praying this show would be everything that I had dreamed it would be(I've been wanting to see monster trucks since I was 6!). The doors opened at 6 for the pit party...we arrived around 6:15pm. I stood in the line for "will call" and when it was my turn, I told them my name and handed them my ID and said that I had 4 tickets + the pit passes waiting for me. The man that was working the window looked for my name and didn't see them. He said I didn't have any tickets or pit passes waiting for me and they were sold out of pit passes....wait...WHAT!?!?! I showed him the email from Christine saying that it was confirmed. He told me to get ahold of her if I could and see what she said. So, I walked over to where my family was standing and I called her. I told Christine that they were saying I had no tickets or passes...to which she said "that's a BIG problem"(majorly). She said she was going to make a call and get back to me.

While I waited for her to call my back, I went BACK to "will call" and this time I spoke with a lady(who BTW was very rude). I explained what was going on, and her response was "that not my problem & it means nothing to me, your name is not on here, we do not have tickets or pit passes for you", my next response(without getting rude back) was "yes, ma'am...It IS your problem, because these tickets were confirmed well before today, and I'm here to do a REVIEW of your location and the event...so be aware that your attitude and the way you are handling this will reflect poorly on you in my review"...and what do you know....4 tickets + 4 pit passes magically appeared! The City Bank Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas needs to work on their marketing skills & brief whoever is working the ticket booth or will call, because I was highly upset that we drove over 5 hrs and had that happen.

Now that I've ranted about that...lets get to the real reason we went...THE MONSTER TRUCKS!!! OMGoodness...it was BEYOND amazing(and loud lol). I made sure to get pictures of my girls with some of the drivers. My youngest was a bit shy, so she doesn't look happy in these pictures. lol

My 12 yr old LOVED Girl Power, & the driver Shannon, mostly because she is a Harry Potter fan just like my daughter. lol my 6 yr old liked Girl Power as well, but she loved it whenever the trucks would crush the cars...she would laugh so hard. I think I had the most fun watching my girls enjoy the show. My youngest, however, didn't really care for any of it. It was really loud for her little ears. She did like seeing the trucks crush stuff, but we ended up leaving about 20-25 mins early because she was getting restless.

All of the drivers and the motocross guys were so sweet. I have loved motorcross since I was little...so this was another favorite part of mine. Even though some of their tricks made me nervous, they were wonderful. I would say that all in all this was a wonderful event and it was everything I had hoped it would be.

Now, on to the pictures(You can click on the pictures to make them bigger)!!!

(Girl Power)

{{Book Review}} Koreatown

This is not your average soft-focus "journey to Asia" kind of cookbook. Koreatown is a spicy, funky, flavor-packed love affair with the grit and charm of Korean cooking in America. Koreatowns around the country are synonymous with mealtime feasts and late-night chef hangouts, and Deuki Hong and Matt Rodbard show us why with stories, interviews, and over 100 delicious, super-approachable recipes.
It's spicy, it's fermenty, it's sweet and savory and loaded with umami: Korean cuisine is poised to break out in the U.S., but until now, Korean cookbooks have been focused on taking readers to an idealized Korean fantasyland. Koreatown, though, is all about what's real and happening right here: the foods of Korean American communities all over our country, from L.A. to New York City, from Atlanta to Chicago. We follow Rodbard and Hong through those communities with stories and recipes for everything from beloved Korean barbecue favorites like bulgogi and kalbi to the lesser-known but deeply satisfying stews, soups, noodles, salads, drinks, and the many kimchis of the Korean American table.

*My Review*
My husband was deployed to Korea a few years ago, and fell in love with several of their dishes. His favorite is bulgogi & kimchi, as well as a few others that I cannot remember at this time. I wanted to get this book as a surprise for him. The photos in this book are gorgeous, and while I probably won't ever eat half of the stuff in here, I'm proud to have this book in my collection. I also love how they have the Engligh version of what the dish is, as well as the Koren name for it.

If you are looking for a cookbook with tons of Korean dishes in it, then you will want to check out "Koreatown"!

{{Book Review}} | {Horses & Friends Series} Book 4 | Blue Ribbon Trail Ride by Miralee Ferrell

Thirteen-year old Kate and her friends came up with the perfect way to raise money for her autistic younger brother and others to attend summer camp—a horse scavenger hunt! As local businesses donate money and prizes, Kate keeps the entry fees in her mom’s antique jewelry box.

But when the box and the money disappear, Kate and her friends must unravel the clues, hold on to hope, and solve the mystery along the Blue Ribbon Trail Ride.

*My Review*
I am always for appropriate book for my three daughers. My 12 yr old didn't want  to read any of the books in this series, so I read them to my 6 & 4 yr old daughters. The themes of loyalty, true friendship, forgiveness, and hard work are great, though a child will most likely be interested in the slight mysteries involved in each book.

What I didn't like is some of the word choices that were used in the books. Things like 'Hurl,' 'dweeb,'  and also  referring to a boy as 'hot,'. I think these words are inappropriate and shold not be used in Christian juvenile fiction.

Other than that, any horse-loving, reading girl(or girl in general) will enjoy reading about Kate's adventures in the "Horses & Friends" series.

{{Book Review}} | {Horses & Friends Series} Book 3 | Mystery Rider by Miralee Ferrell

In the third installment in the Horses and Friends series, thirteen-year-old Kate Ferris already has one problem. Snooty, well-to-do Melissa is boarding her horse at Kate’s family stable. When Melissa suddenly turns nice, Kate is shocked ... and suspicious.

The last thing she needs is more trouble. So when a hooded rider appears—and then disappears—on a stunning black horse outside her home, Kate isn’t sure if Melissa is playing a trick or something more dangerous is going on. Either way, Kate and her friends will need an extra measure of faith and courage to solve this mystery.

*My Review*
Miralee continues to develop the characters in their personalities in her 3rd book "Mystery Rider". Through her friends, Melissa has found her faith and increased her relationship with God. I love that the characters support for one another and their love of horses is what made the book great. I highly recommend the series of books to girls with a love of horses, or to anyone who is looking for a good read. The books are "juvenile fiction", but I myself enjoyed reading all four books in the series.

{{Product Review}} Avery Easy Align Self-Laminating ID Labels!

Shoplet is the #1 e-tailer of business and office supplies. They carry an assortment of office supplies, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, office furniture, and everything else in between.

I was recently sent some Avery Easy Align Self-Laminating ID Labels to try out and review. I gave the pack with 10 sheets to my husband and I kept the smaller sheet so that I could try them out here at home. You can use your printer to make the labels, or you can write on them with a marker or a pen.

I decided to use a pen for the ones I used at home, because I don't have ink in my printer right now. I have been trying to "meal plan" for awhile now. I have the baskets, but the sticky notes I was using didn't last very long. :-( Then, I got these labels and a lightbulb went off....why not use the sheet that I kept to put them on the baskets that I bought for meal planning?!

With the size of my pantry right now it will take up 2 shelves to put each basket. When I'm not using them I keep the stacked(bottom picture). I really love these labels & can't wait until we get our new house! I'm afraid I'll be laminating everything in sight.

First I wrote each day of the week on each of the labels I had here at home. These labels are great & super easy to use! Here is what you do...

1) Write or print on the labels &  fold the sheet in half on the crease

2) Peel off the "Protective cover" the clear laminate

3) Fold the label sheet along the fold line to laminate your label.

4)Use your fingers to smooth out any bubbles that you may see

5) Peel the laminated label from the shiny side of the label sheet & stick to whatever you wish to laminate! It's THAT simple!

*My Review*

Robin Lee Hatcher has been one of my fav Authors for awhile & I  have loved the King’s Meadow Romance series and am really sad sad to see it end.

"Keeper of the Stars" is a wonder addition to the series, but it can also be read as a "stand alone", meaning you can read this one without reading the other titles.

This story was packed with interesting characters and situations and I loved it from start to finish(which was only a few hrs!)

*My Review*
I really loved reading this book with my daughters(6 & 4). We were given all 4 books in this series to read. This book is another wonderful book full of Christian morals and lessons for young girls. I really loved watching the characters develop, learn, grow, and see Kate's and her friends' dreams realized and come true. I would highly recommend this read for anyone with girls. We have made these books part of our bedtime routine. I read 1-2 chapters a night to my girls. I love that it's a way that we get to spend time together before bed.

{{Book Review}} | {Horses & Friends Series} Book 1 | A Horse for Kate by Miralee Ferrell

A horse of her own would be awesome. But Kate figures that might be a long way away, especially since she had to give up riding lessons and move to her late grandfather’s farm. Besides, it would be a lot more fun to have a best friend to ride with. When Kate discovers a barn on their new farm that’s perfect for a horse, and a dusty bridle too, she starts to think that her dream might come true. Then she meets Tori at school, who is totally the best. So when they discover a thoroughbred that appears to be all alone, could it be the answer to her prayers? Maybe. If she can convince her dad ... and figure out what’s going on with that horse.

*My Review*
I really enjoyed "A Horse for Kate" (and the whole series). This was my first time reading anything by Miralee Ferrell. My twelve year old daughter didn't want to read these books, so I read them to my 6 & 4 yr olds. We enjoyed talking about the book afterwards. This book addresses friendship, kindness, and respect for adults. It also brings out character issues such as telling the truth, putting others first, and treating everyone kindly. I loved being able to discuss these things in the the book with my daughters.
