{{Book Review}} If My Husband Would Change, I'd Be Happy: And Other Myths Wives Believe

Like most brides on their wedding day, you no doubt were filled with love for your husband and the hope of a happy life together. But perhaps today, as the realities of life together have settled in, those happy expectations are going unfulfilled. And it's tempting to think, "If only my husband would change, I'd be happy."
That myth is but one of many that Rhonda Stoppe dispels in her easy-to-read exploration of what it takes to experience a truly happy marriage. In the process, she addresses such important topics as
  • understanding your husband's need for your unconditional respect
  • rekindling the love that drew you to your husband in the first place
  • refusing to believe the lie that you'd be happier married to someone else
  • learning to be content in the midst of financial struggles
  • thinking about sex from a biblical worldview
If you desire to rekindle the love and hope you felt on your wedding day, this book will go a long way toward making that dream come true.
Contains discussion questions and personal reflections at the end of each chapter.

*My Review*
"If My Husband Would Change, I'd Be Happy: And Other Myths Wives Believe" is unlike any other self-help book I have ever read. In this book, Rhonda Stoppe writes about having a "God-centered" marriage. I like that she writes from personal experience and uses Scripture to back her up. This would make a great wedding gift for any Bride-to-be. I recommend this book to all wives and brides to be.

{{Product Review}} Sanford Bundle: Paper Mate Liquid Paper Correction Tape, Paper Mate Ink Joy Ball point pens & More....#ShopletReviews

It's almost time for school start, so I'm all about getting FREE supplies that can be used for homeschooling(yes, even homeschoolers need school supplies!). That's why I'm SO excited that Shoplet carries an assortment of office supplies, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, office furniture, and pretty much everything but the kitchen sink(who knows...they may even sell that haha)!

This time I have an amazing bundle from Sanford & Shoplet. The bundle includes;

{Photo of the bundle I received}

Where do I start? I guess I'll just start at the top of the list and go down. I don't really do much handwriting things anymore, but there are times when I do have to write papers for school, or letters to my children's school, fill out forms, etc. This Paper Mate Correction tape will be great for the school year. This year my oldest has to write(like hand write) book reports. This liquid paper will save paper from being wasted or having erase marks all over it.

Next is the Paper Mate Ink Joy ball point pens. I don't know about at your house, but here we are ALWAYS in need of pens! It's like they up and walk/run away. I have a hard time keeping pens around. Even when they are in the container on my desk. I am especially excited about these pens, because they aren't your typical blue/black/red ink....nope...the color of the pen is what color the ink is! My daughter won't be able to use anything but the black/blue pen for school, but that's okay...the other colors will be used for things outside of school. I really like these pens because they have ultra smooth ink, no smearing, no smudging...just nice, smooth writing!

{All 8 colors that come in the pack)

My oldest is an artist. She is into drawing cute little manga & chibi critters. These electro pop Sharpie markers are perfect because she likes to draw with fine tip sharpies. Must be nice to be that good at drawing to not need a pencil. lol The Electo Pop Sharpie permanent markers come in 4 pack, & include the following colors; Optic orange, Techno blue, Nano blue, Electric pink, & Ultra violet. I can't wait for her to get home and draw something with them! They are so much fun to use...which is why they are put up from little fingers. I'm sure my little ones would love to make their walls pretty...but that's a no go right now. At least until we are done renting. These markers are limited edition, so hurry up and go buy some!

And last, but not least...we have these Paper Mate "mate" mechanical pencils. I really like these because they are easy to hold, they feel like a regular #2 pencil. You have less breakage with the 1.3mm lead, which is great. I tend to press hard when I write with a pencil..which usually means I break a lot of lead with the regular woodcase pencils & the usual mechanical pencils that we use. There is no need to sharpen these pencils, you just click down on the eraser & boom...you get enough lead to write with. The one thing I DON't like is that there are still a lot of eraser pieces when you erase with them. These pencils erase great, and I would love them even more if they didn't leave as much eraser pieces.

These pencils will be good for my two older girls when they have to take test for school.

{{Prouduct Review}} Return Address Labels | + 25% off Code inside!

Since we homeschool, we don't have a need to name labels for our children's items. So, this time, when I was given a free credit for Labeldaddy.com I decided that since I had gotten labels for myself, my oldest, return address labels with our family name on them, & labels for my husband; I would get my Papa some return address labels. I had called him before ordering them and asked if he could use them & then asked him what design/character he wanted on them. He said to let my two younger girls pick(since my oldest isn't home from her summer "vacation" yet),

My middle daughter(6) said she wanted him to have mickey mouse....so I looked through all of the mickey mouse options & found the one with a football(my papa loves football), so I decided that we would go with those. He has no idea what they look like, but I know he will like them. I'll be shipping them off to him soon, I just needed to post pictures here before I mailed them.

I absolutely LOVE Labeldaddy.com & have never had an issue with ordering anything from them. Their site is super easy to navigate and there are several different packages to choose from. These labels are $19.95 for a pack of 100. I chose to get these laminated for $4.95 more, I always choose this option because it is well worth the small extra fee. They are 1 9/16 x 7/8 in size.

Here is a picture of one of the labels. I didn't see the point in posting all 100 labels. they all look the same and all have the same thing on them. I blacked out his last name and address...for obvious reasons...but you can see mickey mouse going to catch the football.

I've had several people online and in person ask me if I REALLY get items for free...and my answer is always "YES, I do", but this time...I've decided to add a picture of the packing slip to the post just so my readers can see that, yes, I really did get these for free...just like 99% of the other things that I post about.

Again, I've blocked out any personal info for obvious reasons, but here it is...here is the packing slip that came with the labels.

My readers can Save 25% on your entire Label Daddy order! Just use code USFAMILY25 when checking out. http://www.usfamily25.labeldaddy.com

{{Book Review}} Together at the Table | Three months ago, Juliette D’Alisa’s world changed.

In a bittersweet series of events, her mother’s health took a turn for the worse. Juliette and her brother opened their restaurant together to rave reviews, but her romance with Memphis immunologist Neil McLaren ended in anger and tears.

As autumn sweeps into the Pacific Northwest, Juliette feels that she’s finally on the cusp of equilibrium. The restaurant continues to thrive, and her family is closer than ever. She and sous-chef Adrien are seeing each other, both in and out of the kitchen. Just when she thinks her world might stop spinning, a trip to the waterfront lands a familiar face into her path.

Rather than dwell on her personal life, Juliette throws herself into work and research. After reading her grandmother’s letters from war-torn Paris, she still wants to know the full story –  and she’ll travel across countries and oceans to find it.

But even Juliette can’t outrun the man who stole her heart. As she finally uncovers the truth about her family history, what will it mean for her own chances at lasting love?

*My Review*
Together At The Table by Hillary Manton Lodge it the final installment in the "Two Blue Doors" series. I've had the chance to read the other books in this series and I really loved watching Juliette find her way.

this book is a perfect conclusion to a great series!

{{Product Review}} 3M Products(Monitor Stand, Mouse Pad, & Keyboard wrist rest) #Shoplet

Shoplet carries an assortment of Office supplies,Cleaning supplies,Medical supplies, &  Office Furniture and everything in between!

This is my 10th Shoplet review here on my blog! Today I'll be reviewing 3 different products from 3M. An adjustable monitor stand, A mousepad with a gel wrist rest, & A keyboard gel wrist restWhen I received the email to review these items, I had my husband in mind. I know he could use these at work, esp the mouse pad & the keyboard wrist rest.

When the package arrived....well, let's just say I have a new office area setup! x_x it's okay because we all can benefit from these items. I was going to use the monitor stand to put our smaller monitor on, but saw that I don't have the connection for it on my laptop, so that idea is out until I can get an adapter for it. Since I do quite a bit of blogging/emailing & school work for myself, the keyboard wrist rest & the mouse pad will be perfect.

I really like having my laptop on the monitor stand, it makes it easier to me to sit the correct way at a computer and be able to type easily. Once I get the adapter for the monitor I will move things around and be able to have a duel screen, which will be nice. It will also be beneficial for my husband as he sometimes works from home, as well as my 12 yr old when she does her school work on the computer. below you will find another picture of the stand, as well as one showing the different heights, & the pieces of one leg that I took apart(to show in better detail). Each leg has 3 pieces, & those pieces interlock. The bottom has a skid proof bottom, so you'll def know which is the bottom piece.

{Adjustable monitor stand}

{Adjustable monitor stand}

This was my first time ever using a gel wrist rest for the keyboard. I have to say, I LOVE IT. As I said above, I do quite a bit of typing a day & this wrist rest is AMAZING. I thought it would take me awhile to get used to it, but surprisingly it didn't! I have actually been able to type better with it. I have even been able to increase my WPM thanks to this wrist rest. below you will see a picture of the wrist rest.

{Keyboard gel wrist rest}

I've been wanting to get a mouse pad for awhile now, but kept forgetting because I was using the mouse on the laptop. Now that we've got the office space set up, we can use the wireless mouse....so, now we NEEDED a mouse pad. I pretty much feel the same way about the mouse pad as I did with the gel keyboard rest. Sometimes I'm doing schoolwork/blogging for hours at a time, but my hand/wrist doesn't hurt since using this mouse pad. The mouse glides very smoothly on the mouse pad. My only complaint is that I don't think the mouse pad part is quite long enough & sometimes I end up going over the end of the mouse pad, but I make it work. Def worth it(It's an excellent quality mouse pad, very sturdy, & heavy!) Below you will find a photo of the mouse pad

{{Game Review}} Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance

Where does God’s Word fit in a gaming world? “Right in the middle of it!” says Tyndale House Publishers and Scarlet City Studios. The two organizations have formed an exciting partnership to bring the gospel story to young gamers. Tyndale’s new Aetherlight Bible releases this summer and is built around themes from the new action-adventure online game The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance.

“Tyndale House grew out of the efforts of Dr. Kenneth Taylor as he worked to make God’s Word accessible to his children,” said Blaine A. Smith, associate publisher at Tyndale House Publishers. “For over fifty years, Tyndale has been focused on providing innovative ways for people to connect to God’s Word. This new partnership with Scarlet City Studios enables us to engage children in a game environment with the truth of Scripture. We are excited to join with Scarlet City Studios to create this Bible and help parents engage with their kids in an environment they understand.”

The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is the first digital engagement experience of its kind. The Entertainment Software Association reports that 59 percent of Americans play video games and more than 50 percent of US households have at least two gaming consoles. In only four years the gaming industry has seen an increase in sales of more than 200 percent. The Aetherlight game aims to help young people see their stories in the context of God’s story via a world that is grounded in the biblical narrative. The companion Bible will help families build upon the bridge between the game’s allegory and the words of Scripture. Through different media forms, Tyndale House Publishers and Scarlet City Studios are bringing God’s Word into this unique market.

The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is more than a game,” said Tim Cleary, Scarlet City Studios’ Aetherlight world builder. “It’s an immersive experience that, carefully balancing theology and theatrics, brings to life the biblical narrative for a digital generation. It connects Scripture and real-life application through the world of Aethasia as a high-quality, state-of-the-art game that allows players to experience the mission of God in Scripture for themselves. It’s fantastic, then, to be able to offer a physical, tactile Bible to match this rich experience.”

Join the Resistance today, and play the online game! The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance is available now at www.theaetherlight.com. Be sure to look for the Aetherlight companion Bible in stores and online this summer!

*My Thoughts*
My pre-teen wasn't here for the summer for me to have her try it, so I played. I'd like to consider myself to be an avid.gamer. I have video/computer/phone app games that I play.  Aetherlight is doing everything right, not only from gameplay point of view, but just the whole concept. The target community is clearly defined and the gameplay is challenging and motivating for pre-teen players as well as their parents or anyone else who is a gamer. There were I several times in the game that made me laugh, just because it seemed fitting. The Aetherlight is a wonderful videogame and I highly recommend it.

{{Book Review}} Don't Go to Bed Angry: Stay Up and Fight

We've all been there. He doesn't understand what she's really upset about. He thinks she blows things out of proportion. Neither of you can agree on the right course of action. In every marriage, there is conflict. And with every conflict, there is a choice for resolution. Will you ignore the issue until it seemingly goes away? Or will you work together to find peace?

In Don't Go to Bed Angry, Deb and Ron DeArmond give you permission to fight. Marriage is worth fighting for. Conflict isn't the problem, after all; the real issue is how we deal with the conflict. *My Review*
Don’t Go to Bed Angry: Stay up and Fight is packed full of practical wisdom to help you 1) learn how to fight fair & 2) recognize who the enemy is(& isn't) in your relationship. The most important aspect of this book is how it points you individually and as a couple to Jesus and shows you how to make a plan for your marriage with HIM at the wheel. This book is a must-have for any newly-marrieds, those who have been married for awhile and even though who are having a rocky time in their marriage and aren't sure they even want to STAY married.

Just know that THERE IS HOPE, and Deb & Ron DeArmond help you fight for it.

There nine chapters in this book and they are broken down into six categories:
  1. Burdens

  3. Bridges
  4. Barriers

Each chapter includes, easy to understand information and effective guidance, plus insight from surveys the authors conducted and from conversations they had with couples who willingly shared their experiences with Deb & Ron. All of the chapters end with a section called “Put on the Gloves” which have questions to complete on your own and then talk about together as a couple, as well as a prayer for you to pray together.

Now she has a good job, new friends, and no one to criticize her or comment on everything she’s doing. But when everything begins to unravel, Laura’s heart turns toward home.

Follow the Darling family through triumph and tragedy as they struggle with an uncertain future.

*My Review*
When I chose to review this book I didn't realize it was the third in the series. This was also my first time reading anything by Carre Armstrong Gardner.

I will say this that even though this is the third book in the series it could easily be a stand alone. Since it is a series I would suggest that you purchase the other two books before reading this one. I have not done that yet, but plan on it and I can only imagine how amazing they are written.

Gardner's writing style is easy and captivating. As I read this book, I realized how Gardner's style is similar to Karen Kingsbury's style, in that the characters are so very well developed, the writing flows wonderfully, and the story is one that goes straight to the heart.

This book holds so much for the reader to think about long after reading that last page. We never expect the unexpected. But as we see with this family there is hope beyond our fears. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!

*About the Author*

Carre writes from the big small town of Portland, Maine, where she's the mom of 3 teenagers and 2 dogs she would rather not own. (Only the dogs, not the teenagers.) From 2007 to 2010, she and her family lived in Russia, studying the language and doing humanitarian work.

Like most writers, Carre grew up with her a book always in her hand. The heroines she admired most were smart, creative, independent thinkers like Anne Shirley, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Nancy Drew, and Cherry Ames. Nancy proved that being a girl detective might just be the coolest career ever, but Cherry taught her that nursing was more practical. Carre compromised by becoming a nurse and marrying a sleuth.

Nearly every flat surface in Carre's home has books on it. The stories she loves most are those about the ordinary lives of ordinary people; she thinks of every life as a fascinating drama. Isn't each one of us the hero of our own story? She'd love for you to drop her a line and tell her yours!
