Chasing Famous | Have you ever considered your life as an audition?

*Disclaimer*
I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

Regardless of who or where we are, we are constantly, often unconsciously, auditioning for a part. Loving wife. Amazing employee. Crafting queen. Socialite. All we really want is to be loved, affirmed, and accepted. What if we could learn to live the life we have always been auditioning for without all the stress?

Chasing Famous is a redemptive book that teaches us how to take the focus off ourselves and shift it back on to the glory of God. Written by a professional actress who readily admits that she is the most self-centered person she knows, Chasing Famous provides practical and sometimes humorous examples of scriptural truth that will help you master the natural self-centered tendencies of life. Once you've mastered these issues, and you can, your story will turn the spotlight on God where, you'll soon discover, what it means to truly live.

*My Review*
I remember as a young child(and early teens) I wanted to be an actress. I wanted to be famous & have people asking for MY autograph. I was even on a church drama team with my three best friends from the ages of 13-16. Lisa Loyd is an actress who wants to make...get this, not herself...but GOD famous.

There are many people from the Bible who made God famous for many different reasons including but not limited to His forgiveness, and healing. Loyd has written an amazing transparent book that is honest & encouraging. I absolutely love the different topics that are used on how we can become stronger & make GOD famous

I strongly encourage others to read this book.

Blood Rose Rebellion

*Disclaimer*I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

The thrilling first book in a YA fantasy trilogy for fans of Red Queen. In a world where social prestige derives from a trifecta of blood, money, and magic, one girl has the ability to break the spell that holds the social order in place.

Sixteen-year-old Anna Arden is barred from society by a defect of blood. Though her family is part of the Luminate, powerful users of magic, she is Barren, unable to perform the simplest spells. Anna would do anything to belong. But her fate takes another course when, after inadvertently breaking her sister’s debutante spell—an important chance for a highborn young woman to show her prowess with magic—Anna finds herself exiled to her family’s once powerful but now crumbling native Hungary.

Her life might well be over.

In Hungary, Anna discovers that nothing is quite as it seems. Not the people around her, from her aloof cousin Noémi to the fierce and handsome Romani Gábor. Not the society she’s known all her life, for discontent with the Luminate is sweeping the land. And not her lack of magic. Isolated from the only world she cares about, Anna still can’t seem to stop herself from breaking spells.

As rebellion spreads across the region, Anna’s unique ability becomes the catalyst everyone is seeking. In the company of nobles, revolutionaries, and Romani, Anna must choose: deny her unique power and cling to the life she’s always wanted, or embrace her ability and change that world forever.

*My(daughters) Review*
Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves is a great read! My 13 yr old daughter did put it down until the last page. Blood Rose Rebellion will make readers fall in love with Hungary, history, and the multi-layered rebellion crafted around a girl trying to determine what her role is in the world.

My daughter can't wait for the next book!

Why I "Fired" Our Last Realtor & Found A New One

We have been trying to purchase our first home since we moved back to Texas in 2013. For different reasons, it never worked out, but I've always assumed it was just God saying it wasn't our time and that He knows the perfect house for us and we will get it...in HIS timing, not ours.

Because we've been going through this for nearly 5 years, we've had a few different realtors...some were great, others....not so great.

Recently I contacted a realtor on zillow to ask about a certain house that was for rent, but we ended up talking on the phone for quite a bit the first few times & we loved her. I did tell her that if I didn't hang up on her within the first few mins of talking, then I liked her and thought we could work well together. We met with her right away to go over what we were looking for in a house(big kitchen, master down etc).

Things were great for a few weeks, but then I felt as if she was trying to push us into homes that didn't meet our "wants", or they were houses that were our way out of our price range or too old.
I finally reached my breaking point with this realtor & sent her an email politely saying that we felt as if we were being pushed to purchase a home at that moment and we knew we weren't ready just yet, and that we were being shown homes that we didn't like and that didn't match our search criteria/out of our price range. At the end of the email, I said "It is with a heavy heart that I say this, but we no longer need your services. Thank you for the help you did give, I'm sorry it didn't work."

I received THREE emails from her & they were NOT nice & confirmed that my decision to find someone else was for the best. I did complain to the company she works with & received a call from one of the higher-ups of the company apologizing and saying that if we still wanted to use their company they would be more than happy to get us another realtor.

Of course, I said "yes", & asked if they had someone who was a Veteran, and the person told me that the guy they had in mind is a police officer. He called me the same day & we had a nice chat and met a few days later. My husband and I both like the new realtor! He has been so helpful and isn't making us feeling pressured one bit.

SO, I say all of the above to say this...IF you find yourself in a situation like ours, do not feel bad about "firing" your realtor and finding someone else.

*My Review*
I have been in the market for a new Bible for quite some time now. I have my mom's leather cover Bible that is about 20 yrs old & has dollar tree temp tattoo(which have been on there for about 20 yrs). After my mom died I was almost scared to use her Bible because I didn't want to move all of the paper notes she had placed in certain spots, drawings my oldest daughter made her for that she placed in there, and other things like that. I guess I didn't want to move anything because she was the last one to place things in there.

When I received the email to review the NKJV "Woman's Study Bible", I signed up ASAP. I chose the imitation leather covered Bible. When it arrived I was in awe at how gorgeous it in(both inside and out). I love everything about this Bible, but I especially love that it's geared for women.

It addresses issues we as women face, has little quotes throughout the Bible. I love that there is a page with the history of each book noting the Title, Author, Date as well as the background(Setting, purpose, Audience & Literary characteristics), the theme & an outline.

This is my new favorite Bible. I've paired it with a devotional that I have. If you or a special lady in your life is needing a new Bible, I would suggest you check this Bible out! It comes in GORGEOUS imitation leather, hardcover & cloth over board

For many people, remaining optimistic and feeling positive about themselves and their lives is a constant battle - especially when circumstances are difficult and life is hard.

*Disclaimer*
I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.
For others, negativity is something that only sneaks up from time to time, yet still, wreaks havoc in their hearts. Regardless of the root causes, once pessimistic thoughts permeate our minds, our feelings and emotions begin to control us instead of us controlling them. Eventually, it doesn't seem possible to stay positive, happy, and full of joy, and negative thought patterns shake our faith, causing us to sink emotionally, mentally, and spiritually over time. But it doesn't have to be that way. Despite what storms roll in, hearts anchored in God don't sink. When we change the way we think, we can change the way we feel and live, even if our circumstances remain the same. Intentionally embracing the opportunity to experience a transformed heart and a renewed mind opens the door for a changed life because a positive mind will always lead to a more positive life.
In
Unsinkable Faith, author, and Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker Tracie Miles offers hope for women who struggle with negativity. Each chapter explores Tracie's and other women's personal stories, showing how they rose above their circumstances by transforming and renewing their minds.
Unsinkable Faith is a breath of fresh air for anyone longing for a heart full of joy, an unbreakable smile, and a new, more optimistic perspective on life. This book will equip you to:
-Replace pessimism with positive thinking by becoming the captain of your thoughts;
-Learn how true joy and happiness are based on choice, not circumstances;
-Overcome unhealthy habits of negative thinking by intentionally implementing three easy mind-renewing steps;
-Stop feeling hopeless and pitiful, and start feeling hope-filled and powerful instead; and
-Discover that when you change the way you think, you change the way feel, and in turn, you can change your life completely.

*My Review*
"Unsinkable Faith" by Tracie Miles is a very useful book on how to change your negative thoughts into positive ones with help from the Lord. This book is chock-full of great information about the effects negative thoughts can have on us. Tracie gives us examples from her own life about how negative thoughts affected her.

In the book, we are given the tools we need to help change our ways of thinking.

Is there a more frightening question for a graduating high school senior than "What will you do with your life?

*Disclaimer*
I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

In college, whether they realize it or not, students will answer that question every day with each decision. All of the new friends and new experiences of higher education will shape their future. It's critical that students know how to handle college before they're in the thick of it.
Jonathan Morrow tackles the tough questions that arise during these formative years, including:
-How do you grow spiritually?
-How do you manage your time to both study well and have fun?
-Is all truth relative?
-Are there good reasons to be a Christian?
-As a Christian, how should you view issues like dating and sex?
Each chapter of this new edition has been updated, and the author has included a new chapter on Christianity, homosexuality, and the Bible. Grounded in both his own extensive experience and biblical truth, Morrow's book is full of quick, easy-to-read chapters and excellent advice.

*My Review*
While I don't have a high school senior at the moment. I will have a 9th grader come the new school year, so I am preparing her for college..whether she chooses to do an online course, community college, or moves away for college.

I believe it is important to prepare our children for the challenges they will face once in college.
"Welcome to College" by Jonathan Morrow is perfect for soon to be college students and even non-college students. This book shows you how to juggle life, schedules, & decision making.

I would suggest this book to parents(or grandparents) of teens who will be off to college soon!

About the author:
Jonathan Morrow(DMin, MDiv) is the author of several books including "Questioning the Bible" and he speaks nationally on biblical worldview, apologetics, and culture. {{Book Review}} Lost and Found: Losing Religion, Finding Grace

*Disclaimer*
I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

The "right" homeschooling philosophy. The "right" brand of theology. The "right" meal-planning, home-managing, keep-it-all-together parenting.
Kendra Fletcher, homeschooling mom of eight, had it all "right," until it all fell apart. In the course of eighteen months, Kendra found her baby in a coma, ran over her five-year-old, and nearly lost her eight-year-old to a septic ruptured appendix.
Lost and Found is the story of how God used those events to transform her family's self-righteous religion into freedom in Christ.
Fletcher's debut book is the gripping true story of how God used suffering to save her family from empty religion. As wave after wave of crisis hit, the Fletchers discovered that getting religion "right" wasn't a good substitute for a living relationship with a loving God. Through their suffering, they learned about misplaced identities and false hope, and they threw themselves wholly into the arms of Jesus-where they found the grace they needed.
Fletcher, a well-known writer and conference speaker in Christian homeschooling circles, addresses the quiet legalism that so easily infiltrates Christian communities and exposes the dangers of focusing our hopes on the "right" ways of worship, work, and family life. More than a memoir,
Lost and Found invites all of us to give up the things that hold us in bondage and find our value, worth, significance, hope, and identity in Christ alone.

*My Review*
"Lost and Found: Losing Religion, Finding Grace" By Kendra Fletcher looks at the pain of life and shows us how the Lord is significant.

If you feel you have lost your way, wonder why you endure hard times...then you will want to grab a copy of this book.

*About the Author*

Kendra Fletcher writes on faith and education for a variety of publications, including her blog. She is also a frequent speaker at homeschooling conventions, but she spends most of her time with her very large family. The Fletchers reside in California, where they play in the Pacific Ocean as often as possible.
